Municipal Income Tax

The Village of Burton has a 1% municipal income tax. Income from salaries, wages, commissions, bonuses, profits from businesses and rents or any prizes or awards such as lottery winnings are taxable. All businesses, rental property owners or residents 18 years of age and older must file a tax return whether or not any tax is owed. The village has a 50% credit for residents who also pay municipal income tax through the Central Collection Agency (CCA) in another municipality.
